Are we true Christians?
Let us answer the question ourselves.
************************************
The present generation does not seem to give due importance to the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
It may be due to their insufficient understanding of the Sacrament.
The Sacrament of Confession was instituted by Our Lord Jesus Himself,
as were the other Sacraments.
It is called 'the sacrament of divine mercy',
as it has sprung forth from the unlimited mercy of God.
Though we go on insulting God by our sins,
He continues to be merciful towards us
to the extent of forgiving them
however great they may be,
the moment we feel sorry for having insulting Him.
We must see in God's mercy the unlimited love that
He has for us, His sinful creatures.
His love is gracious enough
to stoop down
to supply all our needs,
both spiritual and temporal,
no matter how sinful and unworthy we may be.
Through the sacrament of Confession,
we are ennobled
with all that we need
to be
and
to act
as God desires us to do.
When we go to Confession,
which is the fountain of Diivine mercy,
the Blood and Water
which came forth from Jesus' heart
always flow down upon our soul cleaning it and ennobling it.
The sacrament of Confession,
in addition to freeing us from our sins,
enkindles and renews our faith,
making it permeate our thoughts, words and actions,
in short, our life.
With the exception of St. John,
whom we find standing under the cross,
all other Apostles abandoned Jesus
during His passion.
But the risen Christ did not abandon them.
After rising from the dead,
Jesus went searching for them.
It was due to His unlimited mercy which does not abandon anyone.
He appeared to His apostles, who huddled behind locked doors “for fear of the Jews.”
Whenever He appeared to them
He greeted them with the words,
“Peace be with you.”
We must remember
that Jesus had forgiven their sin of abandonment
when He blessed them with,
“Peace be with you.”
Then He instituted the Sacrament of mercy, by giving them the power to forgive sinners,
saying,
“Whose sins you forgive are forgiven them, and, whose sins you retain are retained.”
Now we understand that the Sacrament of mercy was instituted by Our Lord Himself
in order that our sins are forgiven through His ministers.
In addition to cleansing our sins,
the sacrament of divine Mercy ennobles our souls,
no matter how sinful we have been.
We have also access to every
single grace
and
blessing
that we need,
in our spiritual life.
Just as Jesus went in search of His apostles after His resurrection,
He comes in search of us even now in the form of His priests
to forgive our sins.
We may have abandoned Him by sinning against Him.
But He will never abandon us.
His priests,
whom He has empowered to forgive our sins
in His name
are always with us.
Calling ourselves Christians has no meaning
unless we see Jesus in His priests
and get forgiveness for our sins
through the sacrament of Divine Mercy, confession.
Are we true Christians?
Let us answer the question ourselves.
