Let us meditate in silence.

--  Let us meditate in silence.

A prophet of the Old  Testament prophesied about Jesus, “Like a lamb that is led to the slaughter, and like a sheep that before its shearers is dumb, so He opened not His mouth”.

Jesus was silent even when He was led to death by His enemies.

But Jesus did not consider them as His enemies.

He prayed to His Father to forgive them as they did not know what they did.

An unfathomable silence envelops the Eucharist and this silence impresses us profoundly.

Holy Eucharist was instituted on Last Supper just before His sufferings.

Even today perfect silence marks the presence of Eucharist in a church.

We too experience spiritual happiness when meditate silently in front of the Holy Eucharist.

Our communication with Our Lord in the Eucharist also is done in perfect silence.

Here I refer to our personal and private visit to Our Lord, not to the public adoration service.

Silence is not classified as a virtue, but it is the atmosphere in which virtues develop.

At the same time, it is a sign of their maturity.

L.K.G and U.K .G students learn their lessons aloud in chorus.

But matured college students learn by silent reading.

When the golden spikes of wheat appear in the field we know that the grain is ripe.

When a virtue is tinted with silence, we perceive that it is reaching maturity.

Mere silence will not reveal maturity.

Bur maturity will reveal itself in silence.

This does not mean that matured people will not speak, but will not use unnecessary words.
