"I have compassion on the crowd, because they have been with me now three days, and have nothing to eat."(Mark.8:2)

"I have compassion on the crowd, because they have been with me now three days, and have nothing to eat."(Mark.8:2)
********************************

An enormous crowd was with Jesus for three days feeding their spirit with His words without caring for their physical food.

On the third day Jesus took pity on them as He saw them hungry.

"I have compassion on the crowd, because they have been with me now three days, and have nothing to eat.",

He asked His Apostles to feed the crowd themselves.

But as they could not do it as  they were in a desert without so much food,

Jesus fed the whole crowd Himself with just seven loaves and a few fish.

What touches me more is the compassion behind the miracle than the miracle itself.

Because no compassion, no miracle.

God created man out of pure love,

but when man broke His commandment downloading on himself breakage of his  relationship with God,

it was out of compassion that He promised man a Saviour.

The Old Testament is only a history of compassion of God with His people.

Every time they broke away from Him, He brought them back with compassion.

The New Testament is Jesus' compassion in action.

His passion itself is the culmination of His compassion for us,  sinners.

No compassion,  no passion.

It was His compassion that made Him pray to His Father to forgive the people who were responsible for His crucifixion,  as they did not know what they did.

So we see that God is always compassionate.

We are His children.

How are we?

God has created us in His image.

So, He has created us with love and compassion.

Are we loving and compassionate towards our neighbours?

Little drops of water,
Little grains of sand,
Make the mighty ocean
And the pleasant land.

Little deeds of kindness,
Little words of love,
Help to make earth happy
Like the heaven above.

Jesus fed four thousand people with just seven loaves and a few fish out of compassion for them.

He gave up His life on the cross out of compassion for the whole human race.

God does not expect from us acts equal to His Son's.

But we can do small acts of kindness, out of compassion for our next door brethren.

Bigness or smallness of our acts does not decide their acceptance to God.

It is our good will with which we do them that decides it.

Just a 'good morning' with a sweet smile on our face is an act of kindness dear to God.

Thinking well of our brethren, using soft and kind words while we speak to them and helping them in times of need, all done for the love of God, earn us eternal reward in heaven.

It is the degree of our love and  compassion that decides the degree of our happiness in heaven,  not the size of our acts.

Whatever we do to our brethren we do to God.

Let us love our neighbours and do them good with love and compassion.
