How are we benefited by the the communion of saints?
*******************--------******-*
There may be much internal disunity, hurt and disorder within us
as a result of our fallen nature
caused by the fall of our first parents.
We should not make much of this disunity
as after all we are members of the same family,
being children of the same Heavenly Father.
If we are individually united with Christ
the whole Christian family will automatically get united in Him,
which union will help us forgive and forget each other's faults
with Christian love.
When we are united with Christ
we are also united with His representatives on earth,
Our Holy Father,
Bishops
and Priests
and also with Our Lady,
St. Peter,
all the Apostles
and all the saints
who are living in Heaven.
We are also mystically united with all the Christians throughout the world
Unity is strength.
All our prayers become one united prayer coming from united minds
and it rises into heaven to touch the merciful heart of God.
The divne mercy embraces the whole united Christian community
drawing it to the heart of God in the closest union.
Individually considered our prayers may be weak as they are from our weak hearts,
but when they join hands with those of pious people and saints they become stronger in the eyes of God.
God feels extremely happy at our spiritual unity,
which is a union of souls
with different piety levels,
but with the same desire to love and serve God,
though the degree of the desire may vary .
Our love for God cannot match with that of Our Lady for her dearest Son,
but if we catch hold of her hands in our spiritual journey to heaven,
her love for God will pass into our heart,
making compensation for our weak love.
The very feeling of traveling hand in hand with our Divine Mother will enable us to feel holier.
How Much more will it be when we walk in company with all the saints?
To understand this concept more clearly, we can cite one human example.
Suppose an ordinary citizen goes to a minister's house with a V.I.P,
won't he be served with the same quality tea that the V.I.P is served with?
That is how we are benefited by the communion of saints.
To be benefited fully we should keep in mind the following :
We should accept ourselves as members of the one Body of Christ.
We must understand that we are called to share in the unity that comes from our union with Him.
We must love Jesus with our whole mind, heart, soul and strength.
We must love others with the same degree with which we love ourselves.
We must reflect upon the effect that our love of God has on our relationship with others.
Our love for God must make us realize that God loves all the members of the spiritual body with the same love that He has for us.
We must realize the deep bond of unity that is established because of God's love for all of us and our love for God and others.
Unity is a blessing tht flows from the love and mercy of God.
Let us enjoy the blessings that flow from the union of saints.
